Make a styling practice legible from references to final credit

Stylists guidance for a clear professional presence and a thoughtful first request.

Show the decision making

Use references, silhouettes, materials, fittings and finished frames to explain your point of view. Name whether you led wardrobe, sourcing, styling, art direction or another part of the work. Context helps a future collaborator see the decisions behind the image instead of reading the result as a generic fashion credit.

A portfolio can show taste while a service description explains the work around it: moodboard, pull, fitting, on-set support, returns or a complete campaign.

  • Sequence references and finals with a clear purpose.
  • Name your actual contribution.
  • Separate personal direction from commissioned work.

Discuss what is supplied

A request should make clear who sources pieces, handles returns, pays expenses, manages samples, supplies a rack or steamer and approves changes. Travel, rush sourcing and damaged or missing items need a clear conversation before Production.

Use a starting service description to help someone ask the right question. Put the project’s real budget, scope, timing and responsibilities in the Agreement both people accept.

Keep credit and usage visible

Agree on how the contribution will be credited and where images may be shared. Clarify whether lookbooks, social posts, paid media or portfolio use are included and who can approve the final crop or caption.

Completion or a positive review does not automatically create verified public credit. Keep the contribution record and usage permission explicit so the visual work can travel with the right context.
